I attended uni as a mature student.
I’ve seen fantastic care and shocking care over the years but have always had a duty of care to protect those that I have been blessed to work with.

In my last role as a senior carer it was my first week and I was “shadowing ” senior staff there to gain experience of the care home.
I worked nights and the home usually had three staff on duty, one senior carer and two carers.

I had to report shocking care standards to the CQC and sent evidence immediately in an email on my mobile phone along with evidence.
Prior to this, the staff had asked me where my “fella” worked?

I told them but did not divulge the fact that my “fella” is actually a female and that we are engaged to be married.

I felt it was none of their business.

Fast forward to an investigation in the care home regarding my Whistleblowing.

I was suddenly put on paid leave with no reason given and gave evidence to the home but not everything as I did not want the sack and hoped my Whistleblowing would remain confidential?

Whilst on leave, we were in the town centre when myself and my fiancée were approached by a carer that worked at the home who was clearly drunk.

She approached me to advise that I did not return to the home as I had whistleblown, staff were refusing to work with me as I had not divulged that I was gay!

Today I have received the results from a subject access request the the big care company and attach a copy of an email regarding me. The sender and receiving persons details have been blocked out but I think you will get the jist of what has happened.
